Vakis Associates Studio, Limassol, 2009

Vakis Associates was established in 1983 in an old merchant`s warehouse and for many years shared the building with its sister company, Thesis, an interior design department which also retails furniture and artifacts from all over the world. These 2 companies coexisted and supported each other in providing high quality services to their, very often, common clients. Having outgrown the listed building a new Vakis Associates studio was built on the roof of our warehouse and connected to the existing building by a bridge. For ease of construction in the old town centre the new studio was built in a Meccano-like method, in steel and composite materials, avoiding the need of heavy machinery. The high ceilings and long linear balcony compliment the existing building, floor to ceiling glazing floods the studio with natural light creating a pleasant working environment.
