Stone House, Platres, 1995
Platres village, situated on the top of Olympus mountain, enjoys a very cool climate during most of the summer. In the 40s and 50s most wealthy families from Nicosia and Limassol built summer houses on the mountain slopes amongst the pine trees. This small bungalow was converted into a two storey three bedroom house. The deep overhanging roofs and elaborate timber details originate from the local monasteries that are typical to this area. The ground floor is rebuiltĀ from dark grey local mountain stone. The house is situated in dense pine forest with stunning views over the whole of southern Cyprus.
