Steak House, Columbia Plaza, Limassol, 2009
Within the Columbia Plaza we created a `fine dining` restaurant for approximately 200 persons. The five metre high ceiling is painted in a velvet tango red colour and within it the oval voids accommodate all the electrical and mechanical services, the frame and structure of the building is reinforced concrete and steel. The welcome bar and grill kitchen are open to the restaurant and 5m tall dividing doors separate the outdoor garden and smoking area from the main restaurant. The floor is made out of saw-cut oak and treated in four different ways in order to give the space an individual character, lighting effects were carefully considered so that daylight and artificial light is filtered through the multicoloured glazing giving the interior a warm atmosphere. A long pool divides the interior from the outdoor shaded piazza. The car showrooms` previous life is celebrated by incorporating the original revolving platform into the design on which sits the focal point of the restaurant:, a 1960`s Humber. All furnishings by Thesis.
