Rialto Theatre renovation, Limassol, 1994, (Second Prize)
competition entry
Rialto was a cinema designed in the late forties, addressing a small town square in Limassol. The ageing listed building was left empty after the decline of the cinema industry in the early 80s. One of the major banks in the country took over the building and transformed it into a theatre. Our design consists of a new stage tower and backstage facilities as well as a new auditorium layout and acoustic walls and ceilings. Some changes were also made to the street facade, mainly to accommodate an entrance ramp and a new box office and lobby.
