Kotani Shipmanagement Headquarters, Limassol, 2000
This was a complete renovation within an existing high rise office building on the busy seafront avenue in Limassol. By building a second internal fully glazed openable skin, noise was eliminated from the busy street and solar gain was controlled by ventilating the cavity between the two glazed skins (existing and new), whilst at the same time the spectacular sea views of the bay and the harbour were maximised. Private offices, conference rooms, reception and other services were kept to the north side of the building allowing completely open space to the south which is the main source of daylight and view. The use of wood and stainless steel are references to shipping and the detailing relates to the marine like interiors.
