Industrial Park, Kaimakli, Nicosia, 1993
competition entry
Small industries such as leather wear, carpentry, ironmongers, printers and others evolved and developed so much over the years in the centre of Nicosia that the supporting traffic and noise pollution became intolerable. The municipality offered a new area on the outskirts of Nicosia for the development of an industrial park to relocate the small manufacturers so that their premises in the town centre could be adapted for cultural and public use. Under the butterfly roof desgn we accommodate 64 units, the gatehouse provides services such as a small office, a canteen, a bank and an administration area for the artisans.
