Heritage School proposal, Polemedia, Limassol, 1997
This small private elementary and high school establishment was housed in several rented houses in the center of Limassol town, unsuited for their use. The new site is in the northern outskirts of Limassol and enjoys space, openness and views. All classrooms face south and have sunshades that allow the sun in the winter to penetrate and warm up the space and shade and cool the rooms in the summer. Light steel construction methods and composite materials were employed to achieve speed in construction and maximum sustainability for the future. Trees and terraces protect the building and create courtyards for the in-between lesson breaks.
