This competition entry for the regional head office of the Cyprus Electricity Authority in Nicosia shares its site with the existing office that had to be maintained, restored and combined within the new proposal. Our proposal addressed the corner with a rounded facade, the landmark tower and antenna symbolise the technical services offered by the authority. Floor to ceiling glazing is used in preference to curtain walling and the linear south facing balconies provide easy cleaning access while at the same time shading and cooling the building. Both the existing and the new building share the same materials and orientation making both buildings appear as one.
