The school is laid out in blocks that mediate in scale between the small scale housing of the surrounding area and the large monolithic blocks of the police headquarters and the telecommunications headquarters that currently dominate the area. Courtyards between the blocks with gardens and high trees works act as acoustic barriers between the classrooms and the busy surrounding streets. Deep overhangs shade the activities within the buildings which are south facing. The sports ground occupies the east of the site and the library and main hall form spectators terraces both to the sports ground and the internal courtyard.
