Amathusia Vila, Ayios Tychonas, Limassol
We love the challenge of a project that derives out of understandable and well adopted confusion of architectural styles. Classical, modern, old, new digital technology, site, planning restrictions, sustainability, sea views, a historic site and budget restrictions. Put all these together in the right order an new concept is born.
The layout of this private home is a linear series of spaces that run along the entire length of the site each sharing the spectacular sea view on all 3 levels. The envelope of the house is built from laser cut local stone with classical proportions and references, opening up to the south uninterrupted sea views over and above the infinity horizon of the pool, framed and shaded by the a Mediterranean garden.
Passive bio climatic solutions with south plan orientation, sun shading and the use of the fresh south westerly winds travelling over the strategically positioned pool combined with the cool air at night from the north will keep with minimum effort and energy this house warm in the winter and cool in the summer.
